This circular walk is through the beautiful countryside on the Yorkshire / Lancashire border. It is classified of moderate difficulty.
It is centred at Hurst Green parking at the Memorial Hall (BB7 9QB) which is situated on the Clitheroe road from Longridge (B6243).
The walk is now known as the Tolkien Trail through its association with the author who explored the area when his sons were at Stonyhurst College. It follows the river Ribble and includes views over the valley to Pendle Hill.
Refreshments at the Shireburn Arms at Hurst Green after the walk.
