Winter Walk

27th February 2022, 10:00 - 15:00

Barbondale, Bull Pot & Brownthwaite Pike

Start 10.15 hrs

Start at Barbon Village Hall (Honesty box for parking) grid ref 627824 at 10.00hrs with aim to start at 10.15hrs.

A walk to explore the newest part of the Dales (still in Cumbria and Barbon is situated approximately 3 miles north of Kirkby Lonsdale). After a stroll through the village past the church we walk up through parkland, along the banks of Barbon Beck, and then onto a bridleway going up across open fell land. A short road stretch onto the flank of Brownthwaite Pike up to our lunch spot with far ranging views across Bowland, Westmorland and the lakes. We descend back across open fells and down to a bridleway with an art installation along its edges and return to the village, either across farmland (or the road for those who wish to have a shorter walk).

Due to the loose rock/uneven surface, this walk may be described as moderate rather than easy. Approx. 8-9 miles

Refreshments at the Barbon Inn, or café opposite car park available after the walk.

Everyone is welcome. Please contact the walk leader to let them know to expect you.

Led by Paul Higgins and Alison Graham. (Contact details in the Yearbook or email enquiries@swsailing.co.uk)
