South Windermere Sailing Club Membership
South Windermere welcomes membership applications, for those who wish to join us in racing or sailing for fun. We offer relaxed "Messing About in Boats" on Saturday mornings, friendly racing Saturday afternoons, and competitive racing in a variety of formats on Sundays. There are opportunities for informal training and sailing with safety cover on Saturday mornings. We also offer junior training sessions on specific Saturdays to build skills; however, we do not offer official courses for beginning sailing.
Saturday racing is low key and more suited to those who are learning to compete in dinghies. Sunday racing is more competitive, and better suited to those who already have racing experience. Juniors must demonstrate their racing skills before competing on Sundays.
Dinghy parking is available for SWSC members (subject to National Trust limitations), and allocated in the first instance to members who regularly compete in SWSC racing and other club-organised sailing activities. Space for boats that are longer than 20ft and wider than 6ft is very limited.
2021 membership options and cost for the sailing season (mid-March to mid-October) include :
Full (individual) membership: £140
Family membership (two adults with or without children under age 18 and up to age 25 in full time education): £200
Cruiser membership for those who have boats on moorings but want to join in the facilities and events of the club: £140
Associate member (regular crew for a full or family member): £100
Junior under 18/Young adult student up to age 25 in full time education: £60 (Note: Parents/guardians are responsible for the conduct and safety of their children at Fell Foot and whilst they are participating in Club activities on and off the Lake.)
For 2021, we have waived the additional joining fee.
Please note, adult members are expected to do several "duties" over the season. Duties are related to your level of experience. More information here.
