Club Boats

South Windermere Sailing Club has a fleet of dinghies which are available for members to use during organised sailing sessions. For the clubs junior members: Tera, Optimist, and Topper dinghies. All club members can enjoy sailing the two Argos, Laser, Enterprise, GP14 and Wayfarer. This provides a chance for you to try out different dinghies before purchasing your own.

Optimist. The first training boat for the younger club members, optimists are very stable and easy to handle. Made of plastic they are very resilient to knocks and bangs.

Tera. Is a good boat for beginners but also a good boat to race.

Topper. A single-handed dinghy for all ages, these are good beginner's boats.

Mirror. The first two person boat many juniors sail, great for starting family sailing.

Argo. These are great training and racing boats. Both boats are set up with asymmetric spinnakers giving performance whilst providing a stable easy boat to sail.

Laser. Single-handed racing dinghy.

Enterprise.. A great boat for racing or cruising, usually sailed with two people but can be sailed single-handed.

GP14. Designed for two people, the GP14 can carry 3 adults comfortably. This is a good training boat for adults.

Wayfarer. A fantastic boat for cruising on the lake as well as training, it will happily carry 4 adults or 2 adults and 4 small children.

There is a small hire fee to cover the maintenance of the boats: Half day: £2.50 for a single hander; £5.00 for a double hander. Any committee member will be more and happy to show members how the boats are rigged.
