Welcome to South Windermere Sailing Club
Our family friendly club has been on the shore of Windermere since 1961. In 2022 we moved to our new location at YMCA North Camp on the west shore of Windermere.
Our aim is to provide a friendly club that encourages both adults and juniors to have fun on the water. We offer competitive racing in a variety of formats, plus opportunities for informal training and sailing with safety cover on Saturday mornings as well as social sailing events. In partnership with YMCA Lakeside, the club can organise RYA accredited sailing and powerboat training courses.
The sailing program is complemented by a number of social events that take place in our outstanding setting on South Windermere.

Annual SWSC Open Race to Waterhead and Back
SWSC's flagship race, the Waterhead, will be held Sunday, 9 June, starting at 11:00 hrs. Come and join us for wonderful day on the water racing from the south end of Windermere to the north and back, (approx 20 miles) while enjoying the many different challenges on the way. Discover Sailing at SWSC
SWSC will be holding an open day with taster sails on Saturday, 18 May, 10:30am to 3pm. This is part of the RYA's Discover Sailing initiative so Save the Date! Community asset designation lost on appeal
South Windermere Sailing Club (SWSC) was disappointed to learn on 23 February that YMCA Fylde Coast has successfully appealed the recent designation of the SWSC area of YMCA North Camp as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). The whole of the North Camp is now designated as an "unsuccessful nomination" of an ACV by the Westmorland & Furness Council. Winter walks keep members active!
Fourteen of us enjoyed a dry, if overcast, seven mile wander around the Lune Gorge and Borrowdale on the 28 th January, looking at possible and probable roman roads, 'by appointment' fell ponies, and the influence of railways and motorway on the layout of Tebay and its roads.
