Winter Walk
Come along for a New Year walk through the mixed woodland in the south end of Grizedale Forest. We will be walking on a variety of Forest paths, roads and tracks and visiting some of the sculpture installations in the forest as well as seeing some of the old bobbin Mills and other historic industrial buildings and water falls.
Some of the paths are a little rough and stony and depending on the weather there may be a few fallen trees and paths shared with small streams to negotiate. There is still a lot of forestry work to be carried out following storms. Boots recommended for this walk.
As this area was not accessible during the recent snow, PLEASE RING DAVID (details in the Yearbook and in the email to members) THE WEEK BEFORE TO CONFIRM THIS WALK CAN GO AHEAD. In the event of postponement another local walk will be done.
Walk length: about 6 miles
Start time: 10.00 am
Start location: SD 344 912, small Forestry Commission car park at Blind Lane. As the car parks are small, it would be useful if you could arrange to SHARE TRANSPORT. There is another small carpark 250m NW of Blind Lane parking. We share these facilities with other walkers and mountain bikers.
Post walk pub: To be confirmed
Walk leaders: David & Isabel Huggett
