South Windermere Sailing Club Membership

South Windermere welcomes membership applications, for those who wish to join us in racing or sailing for fun. We offer relaxed "Messing About in Boats" on Saturday mornings, friendly racing Saturday afternoons, and competitive racing in a variety of formats on Sundays. There are opportunities for informal training and sailing with safety cover on Saturday mornings. We also offer junior training sessions on specific Saturdays to build skills; we partner with YMCA Lakeside, an RYA Training Centre, for official training courses for members.

Dinghy parking is available for SWSC members (subject to space limitations), and allocated in the first instance to members who regularly join in SWSC racing and other club-organised sailing activities and who complete their duty requirements. The size limit for boats stored in the boat park is 6.10m long and 2.13 m wide. The weight of the boat is also a consideration. Fees are listed in the membership application below.

Membership runs from 1 January through 31 December. The official sailing programme runs from March through October, with the Frostbite series extending to mid-December.

2025 membership options and costs:

Full (individual) membership: £139

Family membership (a couple, or one or two co-habitating adults and all children within their guardianship up to age 18 and/or up to age 25 in full time education): £202

Cruiser membership for those who have boats on moorings but want to join in the facilities and events of the club: £105

Junior under 18/Young adult student up to age 25 in full time education: £50 (Note: Parents/guardians are responsible for the conduct and safety of their children and whilst they are participating in Club activities on and off the Lake. Young people under 18 joining separately from their family need to have a current club member named as their responsible adult while at the club.)

YMCA Staff: £26

Social membership (for past SWSC members): £60

Please note, adult members are expected to do at least three "duties" over the season. Duties are related to your level of experience. More information here.

Please see the appropriate membership application below for more details including Boat space fees.

All applications are reviewed by the SWSC Committee. Membership fees are payable after approval by the committee.
