    Windermere Waterhead on August 28 by invitation only

    Things are progressing well at South Windermere Sailing Club's new venue at the YMCA north camp, with much of the new galley installed, new committee boat on the water, and matting down to help launching and recovery of keelboats. However the clubhouse is still not ready to accept the large number of visitors that the iconic Waterhead race (from one end of Lake Windermere to the other and back) could attract.

    Fun and good food for Commodore's Day!

    All SWSC members will find something for them on Commodore's Day, July 30. The morning will feature fun for all ages, and the afternoon will get a little competitive - but with the twist of having regular racers sail different boats rather than their own. In the evening, there will be a BBQ - good fun and good company! £7.50 for adults, £3 for juniors

    Waterhead Race rescheduled to August 28

    SWSC's flagship long distance race, the Waterhead, will take place on August 28 this year. The change from its usual mid-June date will enable most of the extensive works at SWSC's new location to be completed, so that the race can be opened to visiting sailors. The Waterhead race - the only sailing race going the full length of Windermere and back - has been run annually since 1965. It was only cancelled

    RYA Level 1 and 2 courses now offered with YMCA Lakeside

    The South Windermere Sailing Club and YMCA Lakeside have now organised the following RYA Level 1 and 2 courses: 23-24 April (Saturday and Sunday): RYA level 1 for Juniors, 10 to 16 years old 7- 8 May (Saturday and Sunday): RYA level 1 for Adults, 16 plus (only one place left) 30 - 31 May (Monday and Tuesday during half term): Level 1 or 2 for Juniors (depending on interest) 4-5

    Boat Park Allocations 2022

    Please see in the sailing section the boat park allocation list and plan for the main boat park area only. The allocation of Racking Spaces will be done after tomorrow when we are certain of the position and number of slots available. We are also hoping to find additional spaces on the boat park or in the area around the ramp for the club boats and any new member boats

  • Season start - Saturday, March 26

    This coming Saturday, our boat park will be ready to receive boats for the season, and we will celebrate "settling our boats in the dinghy park" with tea and cake. Cakes provided but please bring your own cup! We also will be doing important clearing of the clubhouse 10am-2pm (rubble and then old kitchen units and carpets into a skip) and continued chipping of tree brash for those who can help (spades and wheelbarrows
