SWSC area of YMCA North Camp designated Asset of Community Value
The area leased and used by South Windermere Sailing Club (SWSC) has been successfully designated as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) by the Westmorland & Furness Council. Club celebrates achievements at Annual Prizegiving
Forty-eight awards were handed out to SWSC members at the club's annual dinner and prizegiving, held on October 21 at the Old School Kitchen, YMCA North Camp. The awards reflected success in races, improvement in sailing, and commitment and support to the club. Club AGM reviews year, elects committee

Fun for everyone "Messing About in Boats"
SWSC held its annual "Messing About in Boats" week 31 July to 4 August. Young and young at heart sailed in rain and sun, calm and gales and had a grand time! Sailing skills definitely improved with daily outings and coaching. We look forward to next year's "Messing About Week" already scheduled for 29 July to 2 August 2024!

Join in the Big Windermere Survey
The Freshwater Biological Association, also based at YMCA North Camp, research the health of freshwater all over the world including Windermere. Their next Big Windermere Survey is on Sunday 13 th August between 10:00-12:00 and they welcome volunteers! They have sampling sites all over the catchment, from Grasmere down to Newby Bridge; you can see them on this map

Waterhead Open to be held June 18
First of all it was Covid, then relocating the club from Fell Foot to Lakeside, then storm Arwen blowing trees on top of the new clubhouse, then a full clubhouse refurbishment... But now SWSC are pleased to announce the iconic Windermere Waterhead race is back to full strength. It's open to all monohull dinghies and keelboats with a PY from 900 to 1150. Discover Sailing at SWSC!
SWSC will be holding an open day with taster sails on Saturday, 20 May, 10am to 4pm. This is part of the RYA's Discover Sailing initiative so Save the Date! Club members and YMCA Senior Sailing Instructor will be on site to share more information about all things sailing and our club community. No advance booking is required. Art comes to the Sailing Club
When Phil Bissell retired as Commodore of the Club in 2016, he and Margaret were presented with an original watercolour painting of the Club as a token of appreciation. The watercolour painting was by Club Member and artist, Karen Lester and depicted the scene from the old Club House at Fell Foot, looking northwards up the lake. Annual Prizegiving recognises achievements on and off the water
SWSC Members gathered at the Old School Kitchen at YMCA North Camp on Saturday, October 22, to enjoy a wonderful meal and recognise race winners, determined sailors, and members who have demonstrated particular commitment to the club over the year.
