Roger Barnes of the DCA visits the club
On a rare sunny afternoon on Saturday 28th February 2026 we were honoured by a visit from Roger Barnes, the President of the Dinghy Cruising Association . The moderate westerly winds provided perfect conditions for James Woolgrove to take Roger for a cruise in our own Wayfarer, Cassiopeia. Third 2026 Winter Walk
A happy baker's dozen took advantage of predominantly dry conditions with glimpses of blue sky for the third of this year's programme of winter walks, tackling parts of the West Windermere Way and climbing to High Dam over the course of seven miles. Winter Walks
While we wait for the start of the club sailing season on 21st March, the club's programme of winter walks is in full swing. At the end of January, nine people accompanied by their five dogs enjoyed a walk in the Uldale Fells from Rawthey Bridge; last weekend the hikers tackled the Hutton Roof Craggs area, over farmland, limestone pavement and through woodland. Annual SWSC Open Race to Waterhead and Back
SWSC's flagship race, the Waterhead, will be held Sunday, 9 June, starting at 11:00 hrs. Community asset designation lost on appeal
South Windermere Sailing Club (SWSC) was disappointed to learn on 23 February that YMCA Fylde Coast has successfully appealed the recent designation of the SWSC area of YMCA North Camp as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). Winter walks keep members active!
Fourteen of us enjoyed a dry, if overcast, seven mile wander around the Lune Gorge and Borrowdale on the 28 th January, looking at possible and probable roman roads, 'by appointment' fell ponies, and the influence of railways and motorway on the layout of Tebay and its roads. SWSC area of YMCA North Camp designated Asset of Community Value
The area leased and used by South Windermere Sailing Club (SWSC) has been successfully designated as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) by the Westmorland & Furness Council. Club celebrates achievements at Annual Prizegiving
Forty-eight awards were handed out to SWSC members at the club's annual dinner and prizegiving, held on October 21 at the Old School Kitchen, YMCA North Camp. The awards reflected success in races, improvement in sailing, and commitment and support to the club.
