Waterhead Race 2026

Come to South Windermere SC for our annual Waterhead Race on Sunday 7th June, starting at 1100. The one race a year that takes in the whole of Lake Windermere with a course length of approximately 20 miles, all of which give stunning views of the fells whilst practising dealing with wind shifts, dodging ferries and tourists in hire boats.

There's a forecast for pleasant winds and only a little water coming from above.

The race is open to all monohull dinghies and keelboats with a PY from 900 to 1150. So everything from a K6 to a Laser Radial.

Club members have put a huge amount of effort into getting the club back up and running. There are now great changing facilities, hot showers, and a well equipped galley.

Add in great hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and a race the length of Lake Windermere and back - it should make for an epic day.

Entry is £25 for two-handers and yachts, £15 for single-handers, with a £5 discount for members of SWSC. There's a seven hour time limit.
