Waterhead Race is Back!

South Windermere Sailing Club can confirm the running of the 2021 Waterhead Race, on Sunday 13th June, at 11am.

There is another long distance race in the Lake District that quite few people attend, but this is longer, and probably trickier. It involves racing through crowded Bowness Bay and navigating the chain ferry at Ferry Nab. It sets off from South Windermere Sailing Club at Fell Foot park, and goes north to the Waterhead Buoy off Ambleside, and then back again - double jeopardy!

The race is open to all monohulls with a PY from 1200 down to 900. Nothing faster this year please as our rescue boats can't keep up.
