Over 40 SWSC members attended SWSC's Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 1, and heard reports from the Commodore, Treasurer, Sailing Secretary and Membership Secretary documenting a very successful season of sailing and membership growth in the midst of the huge effort to establish the club's facilities at YMCA North Camp.
Commodore Angela O'Donnell conveyed strong appreciation to all the members who have contributed countless hours over the last several years to make the move possible, including the intensive work this year in refurbishing the North Centre House, creating the boat park and improving launching facilities.
The members approved small increases in membership and boat fees, as well as elected new officers and committee members for 2023:
Commodore: Sara Speicher
Vice-commodore: Christine Gibson
Past Commodore: Angela O'Donnell
Hon. Secretary: Caroline Allensby-Green
Hon. Sailing Secretary: Alison Graham
Hon. Treasurer: Les Weekes
Bosun: Robert Taylor
Membership Secretary: Fiona Macleod
Social Secretary: Eva Marsland
Junior Sailing Co-ordinator: Julie Tomkinson
Trustee Representative: David Huggett
Junior Representative: Ellie Lowe
Committee Member: Mike Deane
In accepting the commodore's "chain of office", Sara Speicher expressed thanks to Angela for her fantastic leadership over the last two years. "She oversaw the 60th anniversary of the club and the move of the club from Fell Foot to here at YMCA Lakeside. It is no small thing to keep people 'on side' during such great change and Angela's humour, care and "bacon butty and cake diplomacy" has helped to set the club in great shape in its new home."
